New Zealand is home to the Manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium). It’s been used in traditional medicine for centuries. An antiseptic is used in the traditional Maori healing system (Rongoa Maori), and seeds, bark and leaves of the Manuka tree are often used to treat diarrhoea and other ailments, as well as inflammation and wounds and burns.
